No Excuses!

Imagine ... It's late at night. You're surfing the Web—skimming the news, checking your e-mail, watching some YouTube. You enter some information for a weight analysis. A couple of minutes later your name comes roaring through the computer speakers.

“I want a word with you!”

You jump and hit the volume down button a number of times. The volume is only halfway up but that was loud! The voice continues:

“You're a few kilos overweight.
You've got a body mass index in the high twenties.
So what does that make you?
Officially ... Overweight!”

OK. I confess. I follow “The Biggest Loser” and the Commando is one of the toughest trainers on the show. Ex-Australian Special Forces, he's not to be trifled with. A former contestant confessed that she hesitated to apply for the show because she was terrified of him. And I didn't realise how frightening(?!) he sounded until his voice came booming through my speakers.

Sometimes, you need a trigger to shake you out of complacency and place you on the path to a healthier lifestyle. Whether or not the Commando's weight analysis is your trigger, his motto “No excuses!”, is definitely a creed for getting started. So, no excuses, I will move those last stubborn kilos!

PS. I ignored the Commando's edict to join the Biggest Loser Club. Instead, I use the tools available at CalorieKing. And last Friday, I also enjoyed the new Biggest Loser master class. I think it is a great idea—lots of information on training and diet that never was shown in previous seasons. The Chick Pea and Chicken Salad and Sweet Yoghurt and Fruit look really yummy.
