On Buying Books

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a man in possession of a few spare hours and away from home must be in want of a bookshop. (If you're going to plagiarise, steal only from the very best of authors, I say.)

Certainly this has been a universal truth for me, so the universe remained entirely unstartled when Debs and I, in Melbourne for a weekend together, frequented a bookshop or seven today.

Weekend Respite

Whoa! Time to take a breather.

In October I increased my work days to four days a week. At the same time, there was an influx of work so I've been struggling to fit my work into four days. It's funny how working one additional day seems to have completely upset my routine. Throw in some weekend events and it feels like I've been on the go for weeks. The massages Tony and I had yesterday, booked seven weeks ago, could not have been more timely.

We have been out every weekend for the three weeks—very unusual for two homebodies.

What's that saying?
“Red in the morning, sailor's warning ... ”

How Was Your Wednesday?

On Wednesday morning I heard James O'Loughlin interviewing an organiser of the ‘A Day on the Planet’ project and the idea really captured my imagination. After a particularly stressing week, it was the impetus for me to grab a dose of reality and pull myself out of a general funk.

A Break Out At Cowra

It's been a week since I returned from leave and, as usual, it doesn't feel like I've been away from work at all. This time the week off was a lot less hectic, not like last time. Tony and I spent the first couple of days in Cowra and then I spent the rest of the week pottering around at home.

A Final Feed

The restaurant business is a fickle business. Some days the tables are completely filled, there is a queue at the door, and the wait staff are rushing around; other days, many of the tables are empty and you wonder how the owner stays in business.

In Hot Water

Can there be anything worse that not having hot water for a week in the middle of Winter? What about ... no water?

Cold Feet

Do you think it could get any colder?

According to the the Bureau of Meteorology, it was around 6.4°C about 10 minutes ago, the apparent temperature was 5.2°, and it's been continually falling while I have been writing this blog. I can't remember a day that was so cold.

A Chill In The Air

Winter looks like it is here to stay, the electric blankets and heaters were unpacked two weeks ago, and the dogs are sleeping through the night. The morning chill cuts through our bodies and it is very difficult to leave the warmth of bed (especially at 5am when I start my yoga practices). This old house of ours might be lovely and cool in Summer but it is cold, damp and draughty in Winter.

A New Web Site

OK. So a post 6-6½ years later is not soon or regularly. (See the end of our last post).

We had problems with our original Web hosting company for a while and lost our personal Web site and Deb's Kitchen and the access to the sites.

However, in six years, Blogger has changed. It's so much easier to set up a blog now so we've moved our old News page to debtony.blogspot.com and created another three blogs.

So, where to start?
